Education Research Center "Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Pathology"

‘Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Pathology’ Education Research Center was founded in July 2009 to develop innovative solutions in biomedical, veterinary, cellular technologies, in technologies aimed to reduce a loss caused by socially significant diseases.

The chief of the Center is Head of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy and Family Medicine with the course of post-diploma education, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation Marina M. Petrova.

Co-chiefs are Head of the Department of Nervous System Diseases with the course of medical rehabilitation, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation Semen V. Prokopenko, and Head of the Department of Intermediate Level Therapy, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation Svetlana Yu. Nikulina.

The Center members work out new programs and methods that develop and combine fundamental scientific research, clinical practice and educational process. The members of the Center provide methodological support for the educational process and promote international cooperation.

In 2014-2019 the employees of the Departments the Center comprises published more than 300 articles in journals of the Higher Attestation Commission Register, a total of 156 papers were published in journals included into WoS and Scopus international data-bases, 10 doctorial theses and 29 candidate theses were defended, 36 patents for inventions and useful models were obtained, there were published 21 monographs. Most of these publications were ranked the best in ‘The Best Monograph of the Year’ contest. During 2015-2017 three projects of the state assignment were fulfilled, and in 2018 three more projects received a state support from the RF Ministry of Health. They are ‘Genetic diagnostics of auricle fibrillation’, ‘Development of personalized approaches to the safety and efficient treatment of chronic pain in patients with pancreas cancer’, and ‘Development of new ways to deliver antiepileptics to target cells for epilepsy treatment’.

The main areas of work:

  • creation of new medical technologies to prognosticate atherosclerosis complications: development of laboratory markers of repeated cardiovascular complications in patients with an acute coronary syndrome based on immunohemostasiological indexes;
  • development of methodological recommendations on the usage of immunohemostasiological markers to prognosticate cardiovascular complications of atherosclerosis;
  • fulfillment of complex work to license medical technologies for new laboratory markers of repeated cardiovascular complications in patients with acute coronary syndrome;
  • research of causes, mechanisms and ways of elimination of the resistibility to antithrombotics and vascular thrombosis prevention;
  • technological bases of research and serial biotechnological production of laboratory markers of repeated cardiovascular complications for patients with acute coronary syndrome;
  • research of neurophysiological mechanisms of keeping the balance in a normal state and under the conditions of the central nervous system pathology;
  • conduction of prospective observation of life status of the cohort of the Krasnoyarsk Region population earlier examined within the framework of a multi-center epidemiological observational study Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases (ESSE-RF);
  • participation in the International Registry of patients with a stable coronary disease CICD Long term registry, EURObservational Research Programme European Society of Cardiology;
  • participation in the International Registry ACS STEMI Registry, EURObservational Research Programme European Society of Cardiology.

The Center’s employees received more than 25 grants (from the Regional Science Fund, ‘Umnik’ contest, Russian Fund of Fundamental Research (RFFI), RF President) amounting for more than 18 mln. rubles.

The employees made dozens of oral and a large number of stand presentations at international congresses and conferences and more than 250 presentations at conferences of All-Russian and Siberian level.

The most significant scientific events organized by the Center over the last six years are:

  • IV (2014) and V (2016) ‘Man and Medicine’ Siberian Congress;
  • International Congress on Neurosciences (2014);
  • V Inter-Regional Conference with international participation ‘Cognitive impairments in the clinic of nervous system diseases: diagnostics, treatment, neurorehabilitation’ (2016);
  • ‘Traditions and Innovations in Cardiology’ All-Russian cardiologic conference, ‘A Look in the Future’ Young Cardiologists’ Forum (2017);
  • I Congress of Primary Care Doctors of the Siberian Federal District, III GP Congress of the Siberian Federal District ‘At the Front Line in White Coats’ (2018).
